Introduction

The Mayor of a historical coastal city is managing the construction of a long-awaited bridge connecting his town to another bustling city just across two wide rivers.  He wants this bridge to be magnificent, and known all over the world for its beauty.  The bridge architects have an idea for this outstanding bridge to light up the sky at night so the bridge could be known as a “Cathedral of Light”!

The Mayor thought long and hard and consulted many advisors on the construction of the bridge and wants to do the same for this new idea concerning the lights.  Will these lights really disturb the ancient species of loggerhead sea turtles that return to the nearby beaches to nest?  He has started hearing some concerns.

After investigating the relationship of the loggerhead and its environment,  you will present your team's findings to the Mayor.  The results will advise the mayor that the bright lights will or will not be a problem for the turtles and why.  You will present this information to the Mayor in the form of a group PowerPoint along with a brochure so he can  inform the public and back his position.

In order to do this job, don't forget you question....

Will the Mayor's decision to light up the night sky on the bridge harm the sea turtle in any way?
