Introduction
Today we
are going to tell lies. We are going to have some fun with a unique kind
of American Folktale called, Tall Tales.......
But
first, let me just tell you what happened to me when I went sailing
last weekend....
It was a gorgeous sunny day, and my husband and I were just sailing along.
The waves lapping on the side of the boat sounded like a rhythmic drum.
Suddenly, the wind picked up, and I had to run to the stern and trim the
mizzen sail. A wave as big as a wall knocked me right overboard. My husband
didn't even notice!
As I swam for my life in desperation, I noticed a shark following the boat.
It was coming right after me! Then, I remembered everything I learned in
scuba lessons. Don't panic. Breath slowly. I also remembered that the most
sensitive part of a shark's body is its nose. So I cocked my hand way back,
and whamo! I hit him right in the nose. At that very moment the shark opened
his mouth, my hand went right down his throat! His teeth were on my shoulder!
So I reached through, grabbed him by the tail, and pulled him inside out!
I saved myself. |
