|
The class will be assigned to groups of five.
Each group will select a group leader to serve as their facilitator. |
|
II. PROJECT
REQUIREMENTS
|
| TASK #1
Research
Paper
(Individual
and Group Activity) |
Selection of Research Areas.
Prior to beginning this project each group must select five research areas
from the following list. After selecting your research areas, you will
be ready to start this project. Remember, group selections must include
the two required categories and three group choices. |
| Areas of Research
(two
required and three of choice)
1. Political Issues of the 1920s
(required)
2. Technology (required)
3. Social Issues
4. Fine Arts (music, literature
and art)
5. Industry
6. Education
7. World Events |
Individual Research/Writing . Each group
member is responsible for researching and writing an MLA style paper on
one
of
the research areas selected by his/her group. Keep in mind as you conduct
your research and write your paper that all individual research papers
will eventually be combined to create a cohesive master document that must
support the group thesis statement.
Since you will be graded on your
writing as well as your research, I have included several very good links
that you might fine helpful as you research and write your paper.
Each group member will receive an
individual grade for his/her report. Go to Evaluation link to review the
grading rubric for Individual Research Papers. |
Group Master Document. After all research
has been completed and individual research papers have been written,
groups will reconvene and create a final research paper that will include
all of the five areas of research.
As a group will need to write an
introductory paragraph and closing paragraph. The body of your paper will
be composed of the individual research papers. Once you have written
your introductory paragraph you will cut and paste the body from each individual
research paper to create your master document.
Go to the Evaluation link to review
the grading rubric for the Master Document.

| TASK #2:
POSTERS
(Independent Activity) |
Creating
Posters. Each group member must design
and create a poster that correlates with his/her area of research. Examples,
create the front page of a news paper featuring a major event, design a
billboard for a play, create a fashion layout, create a poster supporting
a social issue
Poster Design Criteria: Your posters
must look professional. Do not print a lot of pictures and cut and
paste. Originality in design is very important. Use standard size poster
paper. See the evaluation rubric for grading criteria. Remember your posters
will be on display. Last minute work will look like "last minute work."
Go to Evaluation to see the grading rubric for Posters.

(Group Activity) |

Presentation. Using Microsoft PowerPoint
each group will collaboratively
create a slide presentation that graphically summarizes all research and
supports the group thesis statement. Since many of you may never have used
Microsoft PowerPoint, I have included links to several tutorials that you
will find very helpful.
