CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN

GOAL:  To promote appropriate behavior and responsibility in our students

Class Rules; i.e., “How to be an Exceptional Egret”

  1. Raise your hand to be recognized except when otherwise noted by teacher.
  2. Listen and follow directions.
  3. Use appropriate behavior in all areas of the school.
  4. Be prepared – complete all assignments on time and have needed daily supplies.
  5. Be courteous, kind, and polite to everyone.
  6. Stay in your seat unless given permission.
  7. Show respect to peers, other students and all adults.

Class Consequences:

  1. First check – a warning
  2. Second check – lose ½ recess (student reports to detention room to complete assignments)
  3. Third check – lose whole recess for that day
  4. Fourth check – lose whole recess and serve quiet lunch that day
  5. Fifth check –warning letter sent home for parent signature
  6. Sixth check – Parent contacted to set up teacher/parent/student conference

The following consequences may also be used:

    • Office Referral Form sent with student to administrator – form sent home for  parent signature (conference required)
    • in school suspension (conference required)
    • out of school suspension (conference required)

The administrator will deal with extreme offenses (fighting, bullying, bad language, etc.).  A parent/teacher/administrator conference will be requested if there are reoccurring problems.

NOTE:  The check system works on a Wednesday to Tuesday (the following week) basis.  The system begins anew each week.

REWARDS:  A Hallelujah Letter will be sent home each week with comments concerning your child’s behavior/work.  If a student earns 2 or fewer checks for the week, the Hallelujah Letter will be hole punched. The “holes” will be “cashed in” at the end of the school year for prizes and rewards.  In addition, a SUCCESS CHART will be marked each day a student receives NO CHECKS.  During each nine weeks special incentives/rewards are given for these Success Stamps.
