Kindergarten and Child Development
 James B. Edwards Elementary School

Welcome to our Kindergarten and Child Development Classes!
James B. Edwards Elementary offers five full day kindergarten programs and 1 half-day program.  An age-appropriate curriculum with instructional measures and assessment procedures reflects upon the implementation of current South Carolina curriculum standards.  Standards in mathematics, reading and language arts, social studies and science serve as a framework for instruction.

Programs are developed with an emphasis on the development of the whole-child. The classroom environment provides a child-centered, multi-sensory environment where children can make choices, be self-directed and develop concepts and skills within a well planned and stimulating environment.

A routine day in kindergarten consists of time spent in the following areas according to the needs of each individual classroom: circle time/large group activities, small group lessons, center time, lunch, recess, special area time and group time as needed.
