Masterrminds is an annual project held in conjunction with the Medical University of South Carolina's Children's Hospital. This program serves as a fund raiser for the hospital and as a math enhancement activity for the students. Each student is given a booklet with math problems to be worked for a pledged amount. Upon completion of the problems, the student then collects the pledged monies and donates the funds to the Children's Hospital. Each student who participates in this project is given a participation certificate. Awards are given to individuals for the most monies raised for the hospital. The student benefits from the math practice and from the intrinsic reward of helping someone who is ill and the MUSC Children's Hospital benefits by receiving additional funds to carry on their wonderful work. We here at JBE feel that this is a small way to thank the Medical University for all of their support in the past years.
