Dear Parent,

I am excited about the 2003-2004 school year and I am looking forward to working with your child.  Your child will be attending speech therapy twice a week for 25 minutes each session.  I have worked out a schedule with teachers and will begin seeing students August 18th.  I visited all of the classes last week and met each student I will be working with in therapy.

Your child will be bringing home a speech folder that will contain work that we complete in class and some for home practice.    Please send these folders back to school on the days your child attends speech therapy.   I will provide one speech folder per student.  If this folder gets lost, I ask that parents replace the folder.  Children will be rewarded for appropriate behavior and completing homework.

Each week students will receive speech money for doing their work.  Each child can earn up to five speech dollars when they come to speech therapy.  They earn one dollar for completing each of the following tasks:  coming to speech at the assigned time, bringing their speech folder, having their homework page signed by a parent, and participating during the lesson.  At the end of the month they will be able to spend  their money at the speech store.  I always welcome any little toys or treats for the speech store.

The first week of speech I will go over the rules and consequences for speech class.

  Speech rules are as follows:
1.  Listen
2.  Follow directions
3.  Keep hands and feet to yourself
4. Do your best work

Consequences:
1.  Warning
2.  Choice- follow the rule or leave the group
3.  Note to teacher
4.  Note or phone call to parent

If you have any questions please feel free to call me (849-2805).  Thank you in advance for helping with speech progress.  I look forward to working with all of the children.  We are going to have an exciting year together.
