Reading Soul Mates

Reading Soul Mates is a program developed by Charleston Youth Services.  It is designed to link reading buddies with students who would benefit from a one-on-one reading experience. At James B. Edwards, we have incorporated the Reading Soul Mates program into our Media Center by joining forces with the Wando High School Teacher Cadets.  The Cadets discover the thrill of working with children and the children share a warm friendly reading time to create a magical atmosphere of learning and sharing.

 

Volunteers

Rotary Readers, retirees, and parents donate their time in the media center by reading with students.

Accelerated Readers

Using computers to take tests allows students to assess themselves on their ability to comprehend what they read. Tests are available on both fiction and non fiction books.
